Through The Stubborn Girl’s Eyes

Others find comfort in the light
The familiar, the usual.
I, on the other hand, prefer darkness
In darkness, anything’s possible.
You could be here right now
I wouldn’t know. It’s dark.
Unlike the light that limits me
To the four walls around me.
In dreams, my mind’s swirling
From all the possibilities.
But the faint crow of the rooster
Is pulling me back.
Being the stubborn girl that I am,
I shut my eyes. Tighter. And tighter.
Allowing darkness to consume me.
